"You're a good cop, dad. You put on that badge and carry that gun because you know if you don't someone who shouldn't will. When I put on this mask, I only did it-- Because it freed me from responsibility. I thought I was special. And Peter Parker died because he tried to follow my example. I have to take responsibility for that. To make his death mean something. But I can't do it in a jail cell. This mask is my badge now. If I don't define what it means... monsters like this will. This is where I'm needed most."
— Spider-Gwen

Ghost-Spider (or Spider-Gwen) is an alternate version of Gwen Stacy that was bitten by the radioactive spider that was supposed to bite Peter Parker.

History[]

Early Life[]

During a field trip, Gwen Stacy was bitten by a radioactive spider and given spider powers but when she used these spider powers, made her own costume and became Spider-Woman.

As Spider-Woman, she faced the Lizard, which turned out to be a mutated Peter Parker that turned himself into the monster in an attempt to be "special" like Gwen and during a battle with Spider-Woman, he suffered massive harm and died.

Seemingly being her fault, the police and her father (head of NYPD) wanted Spider-Woman for the murder of Peter Parker.

Spider-Verse[]

Gwen was one of the first spider-people to be contacted by Spider UK to join his Spider Army to fight against the Inheritors during the hunt of spider people.

Gwen was sent to Earth-21205 to recuit a Peter Parker that was driven mad by Gwen's death and became the Green Goblin of his reality. However, that version of Peter was killed by Verna and her Hounds. Gwen was teleported away, upset she couldn't save another Peter Parker.

Gwen also appeared in the finale of Spider-Verse where she helped to fight against the Inheritors and defeat them.

Home Sweet Home[]

After returning to her reality, she tried to turn public opinion in her favor by capturing a new villain named "Vulture". The media seemingly linked Spider-Woman and the Vulture together and Gwen set out to prove them wrong.

She found Vulture and they both began to fight. Vulture started to fly away, but Gwen caught him with her webs. Vulture cut the webs using his wings and Gwen fell a great distance to the ground.

Vulture, not believing Spider-Woman to be dead, flew to attack George Stacy to find out his connection with Spider-Woman due to her rescuing him from Aleksei Sytsevich some time ago, and gassed the area.

Gwen used this gas as a cover to change into her Spider-Woman costume and take down Vulture. During the fight, Captain Stacy shot Vulture in the shoulder, forcing them to retreat. Gwen pursued, and although gassed up, she took down the Vulture and webbed him to a police car in an attempt to earn the NYPD's trust.

Secret Wars[]

With the destruction of the universe, an amnesiac Gwen found herself on Earth-15513 under the assumed alias of Ms. Woodley, an employee of Ozcorp. teaming up with Peter Porker of Earth-831, Anya Corazon of Earth-616, William Braddock of Earth-833, Pavitr Prabhakar of Earth-50101, and Peter Parker of Earth-90214, Gwen managed to overthrow Mayor Norman Osborn and stop him from hijacking control of the Web of Life and Destiny. Following the restoration of the multiverse, Gwen became a part-time member of the Web-Warriors, helping to protect dimensions that had lost their Spider-Totems to the Inheritors.
