Alana Jobson (of Earth-616) was the second person to use the identity Jackpot and was the partner of Spider-Man before her death.
History[]
Early Life[]
Little is known about Alana's early life, except that she wanted to be a hero at a very young age. Always hoping something would happen to make her 'special,' so she could make a difference.
Becoming Jackpot[]
After the passing of the Superhuman Registration Act, Alana saw her chance to become a hero. She registered as Sara Ehret, a woman who was gifted with powers, and registered herself, but quickly resigned from that life. She allowed Alana to register in her name.
Alana then combined several drugs in order to give herself enhanced abilities. The most prominent of these being Mutant Growth Hormone. The effect is not permanent, however, and she had to inject herself with the drugs fairly often in order to keep her powers, a fact she kept to herself.
Brand New Day[]
After teaming up with Spider-Man, and quickly taking a liking to him, Jackpot revealed to him that her real name was Sara Ehret, after Spidey's continuous questioning, thinking she may be his former girlfriend Mary Jane Watson.
Later, at a press conference held by mayoral candidate councilwoman Parfrey, the new goblin-like villain Menace attacked. Spidey and Jackpot teamed up once again, with Jackpot retrieving the councilwoman from Menace's grasp, and setting her on the sidewalk below. Jumping into the air once again to attack Menace, the glider was knocked free, and presumed to crash into the fear-struck councilwoman, killing her instantly. Filled with grief, and feeling responsible, Jackpot fled.
Not long after, Spider-Man appeared at Sara Ehret's house to try and comfort her, only to be informed that she wasn't actually the hero. After being asked to leave, the wall-crawler swung away very confused.
Spider-Man and Jackpot teamed up once again to take down the villain Blindspot, a villain who used a toxin to render anyone he touched temporarily blind. After the fact, Peter inquired about her true identity, sitting with her on a rooftop and giving her a cup of coffee. Without getting anywhere, she left, but Spider-Man took the cup, and as Peter Parker, gave it to Betty Brant in the hopes she could get a fingerprint analysis from someone.
In a phone call with Peter, Betty told him that the fingerprints belonged to Alana Jobson, so as Spider-Man, he went into her home, finding various needles and drugs. Hearing someone enter the room, he jumped to the ceiling, noticing the lesions on Alana's back as she began to undress. Surprised, Spidey spoke by mistake, and she struck him, knocking him to the floor. After asking her about the things he found, she told him how she always wanted to be a hero. And that when Sara Ehret gave her the opportunity to become a real one, she jumped at it. Also telling him about the drugs that gave her her powers. Spider-Man told her to give it all up, telling her it was too dangerous to continue as a hero, and left.
Death[]
After speaking to Reed Richards to find an antidote for Blindspot's induced blindness, he went to Blindspot's home, where he also encountered Commanda. Seemingly overwhelmed, Jackpot appeared, and was rendered blind by Blindspot's neurotoxin. Spidey gave her the antidote, and the two were able to defeat the villains.
As they were leaving, Jackpot collapsed. Spidey quickly said he was going to take her to the hospital, but she said she didn't think she'd make it that long. And with her dying breath, said all she ever wanted was to be a hero.
After an autopsy, Reed Richards informed Spider-Man that she died as a result from the drugs that gave her her powers mixing with Blindspot's toxin, not the antidote given to her by Spider-Man. Spidey blamed Sara Ehret for her death, telling her that she was the one given powers, and it was her responsibility to use them.
Personality[]
Alana had a very hopeful, almost naive personality. Overzealous about her career as a hero, she often used cliche terms to describe aspects of her new life, such as "rogues gallery." Something Spider-Man consistently called her on. She also noted how fortunate she was to be working with Spider-Man, showing obvious excitement. Not too much else is known about her personality, except that she seemed rather stubborn. Completely defending her choice to become a hero, even through dangerous means.

The mix of drugs she uses to increase her abilities grants her superhuman strength, speed, agility and near invulnerability. Appearing to be bulletproof.
Abilities[]
Alana appears to be a skilled fighter, but little is known about her natural abilities. She likely has some advanced chemistry experience, given her knowledge of the chemicals that grant her her powers.

Jackpot can lift approximately five tons.

No special equipment.
Weaknesses[]
What gives Alana her powers is also her greatest weakness. The combination of chemicals in her blood is potentially dangerous, and even brought about her untimely demise when they were mixed with Blindspot's toxin.
Notes[]
- Jackpot's first appearance was in the Free Comic Book Day Spider-Man Special released on May 5th, 2007.
- Jackpot was originally created with the implication that she could be Mary Jane. This is implied by her look, the fact that she called Spider-Man "tiger" and her name, which is a reference to Mary Jane's line "Face it, tiger, you just hit the jackpot," from when she first met Peter. This was eventually proven to be untrue as events unfolded.
