The Avengers (of Earth-616) were a team of superhumans assembled by Nick Fury under presidental orders. The group's purpose was to undertake missions too dangerous for ordinary U.S. operatives.
History[]
Nick Fury, under orders from the President of the United States, assembled a team of skilled soldiers and superhumans too take on the mission that were too dangerous for ordinary operatives.
The teams first mission was to stop a Red Skull impersonator from using a mixture of the Nazi version of the Super Soldier Serum and the Infinity Formula to create a new chemical compound.
In 1959, the group reformed with new members to stop Geoffrey Sydenham and ICON from starting a third World War against Russia.
