"Carnage... I like it!" — Green Goblin

Carnage is the eighth episode of the second season of the television series Ultimate Spider-Man. The episode aired on March 31, 2013.

Plot

As the Green Goblin, Norman Osborn returns. He starts battling Spider-Man in New York City on his glider. Soon after, Peter is with Harry in a limo. He is worried about Harry, and wonders if he should tell him if he is Spider-Man. After thinking, Peter looks into his bag and starts to tell Harry, but right when he is about to, Peter's Spider-Sense goes off, he pulls Harry down, and tell him to "Get down!". The roof of the limo peels back to reveal Green Goblin, who reaches towards them. Peter and Harry run off, however Peter managed to forget his bag with his Spider-Man costume in it. Him and Harry continue running into an alley, waiting for Peter's friends to arrive. The other four soon arrive, and they start battling the Green Goblin but are trapped in green bubbles and cannot move.

The Green Goblin soon corners Peter and Harry. Harry reveals that he knows that Norman is the Goblin. However, Norman casts Harry aside and kidnaps Peter and takes him back to his lab. After strapping Peter onto a table, and talking about how he prefers Peter over his own son, he injects Peter with a sample of the Venom symbiote. The symbiote woks, and takes over Peter's body, it then starts turning red, and spikes come out, the red portion overtakes the black, and a long tong grows from the face. As this new symbiote, Peter starts destorying Norman's lab and tears down a television screen. He goes after Norman only for Norman to electrocute him to settle him down. Soon after, he makes a remark about all the "Carnage" he has created. Then Norman decides to call him  "Carnage ". After seeing a past video of Spider-Man and his team, he tells Carnage to bring him Spider-Man and then he will become part of the family.

Carnage in action

After Nick Fury talks to Harry  in his house about any reason why Norman may have took Peter, the team and Nick see "Spider-Man" however, they notice a difference in his "costume". After he breaks in, they see that it is not him. Luke Cage and the other notice that it looks the Venom symbiote, just different somehow. The team talks to each other, questioning why this version of the symbiote is different.

After battling, and beating every member of the team, and S.H.E.I.L.D. workers, the Harry yells at Carnage telling him to  "Stop!". Carnage does stop, and Peter notices that he did not stop on his own. Harry calms the symbiote down, and Peter starts to root for him. However, Harry moves his hand towards Carnage, as well as talking to the symbiote, saying how they they used to be one. The quickly symbiote drifts onto Harry, and Harry becomes Venom once more, and Peter is no longer Carnage. Harry seems to be in full control, and then decides to go after his dad to end it once and for all. Peter tries to stop Venom but is too late as he web swings away.

Suited up as Spider-Man, Peter catches up with Venom telling him that ending it, is the wrong thing to do, and that they should work together. Venom agrees and they find Norman's secret lab. Venom throws Spider-Man through the window, and Spider-Man starts get bested by Norman. Venom soon arrives. After Venom starts to get bested by Norman too, Spider-Man explains to the viewer why him and Venom have team up, since Norman is questioning it.

A 2 on 1 battle between the three start, and they quickly defeat Norman, and knock him out. He gets up, and they knock him out once more. After Norman is down, Venom walks towards him to "finish the job".

Spider-Man tries to calm Norman down after he gets back up, Norman responds with "I can take care of my own mess."  Spider-Man tells him no, and that he is already beaten, but Harry, as Venom thinks otherwise. Norman then wakes up and him and Venom start to battle one on one.

Spider-Man calls him his team to back him up, and says to Iron Fist that he "Actually has a plan". Peter then ditches his Spider-Man costume, and tries to appeal to the inner Harry inside Venom telling him to not kill his father. After Venom slams Peter into a wall, Peter continues by saying not to give up his dad, because he and Peter did not give up on him. Harry then starts to lose control of the symbiote and the symbiote and Harry start to argue with one another, but just in time, he gets rid of it.

The Venom symbiote is now down to bug size, and Harry puts it into a glass jar. Norman wakes up again, only to see how weak his son is for not killing him. Then Norman goes on to explain that it is odd that Peter Parker is in room, as soon as Spider-Man is "Not found." Just as Norman is about to attack the two, Spider-Man's team bust throught the roof. The entire team is there, even "Spider-Man". Spider-Man then starts to kick Norman in the face. Norman then escapes only to take Harry with him. Norman then pauses, and then says how proud Harry would have made his father today. He drops Harry, and escapes.

Harry is caught by Spider-Man, and is safe. Peter then goes to Harry saying that Spider-Man is right in front of them, and goes on to complement him. Peter then starts talking to "Spider-Man" softly, the man lifts his mask and it is revealed that the man in the Spider-Man suit is Iron Fist, and wore the costume so Norman or Harry would think Peter was Spider-Man.  Iron Fist then quietly talks to Peter asking him how to web swing. Peter tells him "Two fingers. And don't use up all my web fluid!" "Spider-Man" swings away catching with the team.

Peter with his team, talking to Nick Fury. Afterwards, he asked Iron Fist how was it to be Spider-Man. He says the costume was tight around the armpit area, and the mask smelled of "stale milkshakes".

Peter then gets into a limo with Harry. They talk about Harry giving his father another chance. Harry agrees at that. Peter asks Harry if he "Sees Spider-Man in a new light", Harry says "Let's not push it. Agree to disagree?" Peter agrees and then ask Harry to catch a movie, and that he has "no cash". Harry says "Oscorp owns the theater." they are seen driving off. After this, Norman Osborn, the Green Goblin is then seen on the edge of the roof while it is raining. A sad look is seen on his face as the episode ends.
