Great Power is the first episode of the first season of the television series Ultimate Spider-Man. The episode aired on April 1, 2012.

Synopsis

While patrolling the city of New York, Spider-Man encounters a robbery. He meets the criminal, The Trapster. Peter Parker explains his first three meetings with The Trapster, which were all failures for Spider-Man. After a brief battle, Spider-Man emerges victorious after making Trapster's equipment explode. The S.H.I.E.L.D. Helicarrier appears above the scene as soon as the scuffle ends. Nick Fury approaches Spider-Man, and criticizes him for the damage caused by the fight. Fury invites Spider-Man to join S.H.I.E.L.D., and says he can learn to become the "ultimate Spider-Man". Spider-Man eventually refuses his offer. Fury does, however, give Spider-Man a new web-shooter during their conversation.

The three remaining members of the Frightful Four - Klaw, Wizard, and Thundra - attack Peter Parker's school, revealing their knowledge of Spider-Man's presence at Midtown High. Peter is able to change into Spider-Man, and discovers a tracker on his suit. This explains how the villains were able to track him. Spider-Man is able to defeat the attackers, however, Peter's best friend, Harry Osborn, is injured during the fight. 

Spider-Man decides to reconsider Nick Fury's offer, and travels to the S.H.I.E.L.D. Helicarrier. After Spider-Man is attacked by the Helicarrier's security system, Nick Fury shuts it down. Peter says "Ultimate Spider-Man reporting for duty... sir!" and Fury replies "Welcome to S.H.I.E.L.D., Spider-Man. Hope you survive the experience". The episode then ends.
