The Guardians of the Galaxy (of Earth-616) are a team composed of heroes from across the Milky Way galaxy who originally banded together to stop the Phalanx's conquest of the Kree Empire. Having succeeded in their original goal, the Guardians now guard the universe from the various cosmic and intergalactic threats that plaque it.
