"This world isn't fair, Teddy. But look. There's a better one, right in there. A shared escapist universe built by hundreds of human creators over decades... a singular linked vision. It's real! I can almost touch it! It's been calling to me! I know that!" |
Gwen Poole (of Earth-TRN565), better known as Gwenpool, is, despite appearances, not an alternate version of Gwen Stacy, but rather a comic book fan originating from a universe where all the heroes and villains of the prime reality are fictional characters.
Due to the fact that Gwenpool believes herself to be the only "real person" in the "fiction world" she now finds herself in, Gwenpool feels she can do whatever she wants without consequences which usually brings her into conflict with other superheroes.
History[]
Origin[]
Before coming to the prime universe, Gwen lived in a universe very similar to our own universe. Since nothing extraordinary ever happened in her life, Gwen would spend most of her spare time learning everything she could about the extraordinary adventures of the fictional characters that appeared in the various books, television shows, video games and movies of her universe. Of these various medias, Gwen most avidly followed the adventures of comic book super heroes and super villains while dreaming of one day having the kind of adventures that comic book characters got to have.
Eventually, through means unknown to even Gwen herself, Gwen woke up one day in the world of heroes and villains she had always dreamt about. While not knowing how she ended up in a world that is supposed to fictional, Gwen decided not to question it and decided to not waste the opportunity to live the life she always wanted. Since she didn't want to end up as an "extra" in someone else's story, Gwen rushed to a local shop called Big Ronnie's Custom Battle Spandex remembering that the shop provided costumes to the heroes in her comic books.
Unfortunately, the tailor who created her costume misread the request form she had filled out for the suit and assumed that the name she had written "Gwen Poole" was her superhero alias instead of her real name while also assuming that the name she had chosen meant she wanted her costume to be based of Deadpool's. While Gwen was originally upset at this development, Gwen decided to role with it and became the madcap adventurer known as "Gwenpool".
