The Mighty (of Earth-616) was a team formed by Iron Man to counter the Worthy during the Serpent War. The team consisted of members of the various Avengers teams (with the exception of the Red She-Hulk) equiped with Asgardian weapons created by Iron Man, the Dwarf Splitlip and Odin.

With the Serpent's champions, the Worthy, decimating their defenses on all fronts, some Avengers started to lose hope and some began to accept that they were going to lose this war.

Knowing that only Agardian intervention could turn the tide of the war in Earth's favor, Iron Man sacrifices his sobriety as part of one final desperate attempt to get Odin's attention. His plea proved successful and Odin gives Iron Man access Svartalfheim, the forges of Asgard, where he meets Splitlip, the Dwarven master of the forge who agrees to help Tony build his new weapons. Together Iron Man, Spitlip, and Odin created 9 Uru metal infused Agardian weapons for Iron Man and 8 of the Earth's greatest heroes to use against the Worthy.

After completing these weapons, Iron Man returned to Earth and gathered together Doctor Strange, the Red She-Hulk, Spider-Man, Black Widow, Ms. Marvel, Hawkeye, Iron Fist, and Wolverine; as he believed they were the only heroes capable of defeating the Worthy, and gave each of them an Asgardian weapon made to complement each of their strengths. With their new weapons in hand and their resolve restored, the Earth's newest champions, the Mighty, set out to help Captain America and Thor in the final battle against the Serpent's forces.

In the end The Mighty were able to achieve their ultimate goal of defeating The Worthy. With the need for their weapons gone, the team disbanded and gave their weapons to Odin, as per the terms of Iron Man's deal with Odin, who promised to keep them safe until the time they might be needed again in the future.
