History

Early Life

AmazingFantasy 15p002

Peter's normal, powerless days as a teenager

Peter Parker was orphaned at the age of six when his parents were killed in an airplane crash overseas. He went to live with his uncle and aunt, Ben and May Parker, in Forest Hills, New York. Peter was extremely smart and worked his way to become an honors student at Midtown High School. However, Peter's shyness and scholastic interest often made him a social outcast, being overshadowed by the likes of high school bully, Flash Thompson, among other popular kids.

While attending a public exhibition demonstrating the safe handling of nuclear laboratory waste materials, sponsored by the General Techtronics Corporation, Peter was bitten by a radioactive spider that had been irradiated by a particle accelerator used in the demonstration. Making his way home afterwards, Peter discovered he had somehow gained incredible strength, agility, and the ability to cling to walls; spider-like traits that he immediately associated with the spider bite.

The moment that changed everything

Becoming Spider-Man

After seeing an ad offering a cash prize to anyone who could last three minutes in the ring with a professional wrestler, Peter decided this would be the perfect way to test his powers. Wearing a mask to avoid potential embarrassment, Peter easily defeated his opponent. A television producer observed his performance and convinced him to go on television with his 'act.' After designing a red and blue costume and some wrist-mounted web-spinners, Peter appeared on the show calling himself Spider-Man and became an immediate sensation.

Following his first television appearance, Peter purposely neglected to stop an escaping thief, claiming that it was not his responsibility to do so. Peter forgot the incident as his fame rose, but one night he returned home to discover that his Uncle Ben had been murdered while trying to stop a burglar.

Peter seeing his mistake

Learning the police had the burglar responsible holed up in a warehouse, Peter donned in his Spider-Man costume and went to avenge his uncle. After cornering the criminal in the warehouse, Peter unmasked the robber, only to find it was the same man who he let escape earlier. After knocking the criminal out and lowering him to policeman via web-line, Peter returned home and thought about how he could've stopped the man when he had the opportunity.

Filled with remorse, he realized that with great power, there must also come great responsibility. Peter eventually found himself consumed by the concept of adventure and heroism. That, along with the lesson in responsibility that was recently drilled into his head, inspired him to take that fateful step into the shoes of heroism, as the Amazing Spider-Man, New York's newest street level hero.

Taking on Great Responsibility

Sinister-six-all-over

Spider-Man fighting his most infamous enemies

With the choice to become a hero, Peter thought it was a good idea to join the Fantastic Four because he thought they were paid for their good deeds.

As Spider-Man, Peter gave up a good portion of his own personal life. He had less time to spend with his family and friends, and as a result, less time was devoted to his school work. During this time, Peter's grades began to suffer, as did his relationships with others.

However, the one person who found him to be a "swell fellow" was Betty Brant of the Daily Bugle. Peter met her on one of his first visits to the Bugle, where he was introduced to her boss and Spider-Man's number one critic, J. Jonah Jameson.

Her boss was determined to make Spider-Man public enemy #1, unaware of the fact that Spider-Man and Peter Parker were one and the same. Betty and Peter developed an almost instant connection with one another, and soon started a relationship with one another that did not last long.

During this time, Peter would meet some of his infamous foes as Spider-Man. He would face and defeat the likes of Doctor Octopus, Electro, Kraven the Hunter, Mysterio, Sandman, the Green Goblin, Scorpion and Vulture.

One day after being beaten many times in a row by Spider-Man, Doctor Octopus would bring together six of them in a new super villain group called the "Sinister Six" and kidnap Aunt May and Betty Brant to end Spider-Man's life once and all, but didn't work since Spider-Man picked them off one by one.

Along Peter's adventures, Spencer Smythe would come to help J. Jonah Jameson in trying to defeat Spider-Man by building a "Spider-Slayer" robot with Jonah's face on the robot.

Spider-Man would also meet Daredevil and team-up with the Fantastic Four's Human Torch from time to time to fight crime.

College Life

Peter eventually graduated from Midtown High School and enrolled at Empire State University with a science scholarship. Peter would also finally meet Mary Jane Watson, someone that eluded him for so long. After becoming friends, Mary Jane would start to date Harry Osborn.

At ESU, Peter met new classmates, Harry Osborn and Gwen Stacy. Even though he got off to a bad start with Harry, The two eventually warmed up to each other. Peter showed an interest in Gwen and started to date her. Peter also made amends with his ex-school bully, Flash Thompson who was drafted to the army, but came back for visits every now and again.

Meanwhile, the Green Goblin starts to come up with a plan to discover Spider-Man's secret identity and reveal it to the entire world after upgrading his flying broomstick to a glider. The Green Goblin devised a plan to have some goons release a gas that would weaken Spider-Man's spider-sense that would allow the Green Goblin to follow Spider-Man find out who he was.

After a successful plan via a rooftop battle, Goblin stalked Spider-Man to an alleyway and discovers that Peter Parker and Spider-Man were the same person, and was surprised that a mere "kid" was the one taking him down all the time.

Green Goblin then kidnaps Peter after a battle where Peter lost. After tieing Peter up in his Spider-Man costume, Norman Osborn unmasked himself as the Green Goblin and Harry's father all along. After Peter got loose during Norman's speech, a battle started between the two of them where Norman ended up suffering trauma to his head and forgot he was the Green Goblin and Spider-Man's secret identity.

After Norman's unmasking, Spider-Man fought new foes such as the Rhino (a man named Aleksei Sytsevich in a Rhino like suit) who kidnapped John Jameson, with Spider-Man coming to save the day. Also, a man named Herman Schultz who dubbed himself as the “Shocker” used sock wave gauntlets to commit crimes. Both became crime committers that Spider-Man defeated regularly.

Spider-Man: No More!

Spider-man-no-more

Spider-Man... No More!

Peter eventually started wondering if he may be better off not being a normal civilian and leaving behind his Spider-Man costume and crime fighting since no one seemed to appreciate the good deeds Spider-Man did. After much thinking, a man named Wilson Fis also known as the Kingpin, abducted J. J. Jameson. Peter decided it was his responsibility to be a hero for any and everyone, no matter what people said about Spider-Man and saved J. Jonah Jameson.

A mystic object called the Tablet of Life and Time, that was in Peter's college at the time, was taken by Kingpin. After being in the possession of many people, the Tablet got to the Maggia boss, Silvermane, who forced Curt Connors to translate the tablet’s ancient writings. Connors was also forced to create a powerful youth serum from it for Silvermane. After Silvermane drank the serum, it appeared to work and he became a young man again. However, the serum made Silvermane's body to degenerate pass a human’s baby stage. After this, Connors turned into the Lizard again and escaped. Spider-Man then teamed up with the Human Torch to take him down.

Spider-Man also meets the Prowler and a new costumed Black Widow, people who he would meet and clash with regularly in the future.

Another version of the Spider-Slayer would come about in the form of a "Mark II" with J. Jonah's face on the robot that Spider-Man once again defeated.

The Death of the George Stacy

Amazing spider-man 90 death captain george stacy

Using his mental sync with his tentacles, Doc Ock controlled his tentacles from prison to free him. They freed him and he started to hijack a plane. Spider-Man prevented Doc Ock from hijacking the plane and destroying the city's power plant. Spider-Man thought he stopped Doc Ock, only to be caught by surprise the very next day. Spider-Man and Doc Ock took their fight to a rooftop where the intense battle caused the building to fall apart. Some of the falling debris from the battle was closing in on a child, and at the last second, George Stacy saved the child, at the cost of his own life.

After defeating Doc Ock, Spider-Man ran over to George to see if he was okay. George then admitted that he knew Spider-Man and Peter Parker were the same person (much to the surprise of Peter) taen died in Spider-Man's arms.

Afterward, Peter faced many superheroes, thinking he was one who killed George Stacy. Such as the X-Men's Bobby Drake (Iceman) and the Prowler (Hobie Brown). After proving himself to them, he went to London to try to prevent Gwen from leaving New York because of her father's death.

Four Arms, More Baddies, and Helping The Hulk

With his life as Spider-Man only causing him trouble, Peter starts to make a formula that will take away his Spider-Powers. After going to sleep, then waking up, Peter saw that he had an extra four arms on his sides. Stressed for help, Spider-Man went to Curt Connors for help to make a cure for his extra four arms, while trying to help Connors to become the Lizard again. Spider-Man encountered a more villains such as a man called Michael Morbius, a vampire who wanted to kill Spider-Man, the Beetle and more Spider-Slayers.

Peter eventually returned to normal, shortly after helping the Hulk fight Doc Ock and Hammerhead in Canada.

The Death of Gwen Stacy

Asm121-2

All seemed normal for both Peter Parker and Gwen Stacy, as well as Peter's life as Spider-Man doing his job as usual. Seeing that none of his friends were paying attention to him, Harry fell to LSD. However, Norman Osborn's alter-ego as Green Goblin resurfaced, and he suited up as the Green Goblin to kidnap Gwen Stacy. Spider-Man found them at the top of the Brooklyn Bridge, where the Goblin was holding Gwen. After a few words, Goblin dropped Gwen off the bridge to kill her.

Naturally, Spider-Man dived after her and after seeing his speed could not match hers, he spun a web to catch her by her leg. Due to the fast stop, Gwen's neck snapped and she died right as she was stopped. Goblin then told Spider-Man that it was impossible for him get Gwen, since she was falling to fast and he knew the web would kill her. Holding her dead body, Spider-Man was enraged and took after Goblin. With Goblin showing no remorse for her death, Spider-Man was so angry he started to beat Goblin, almost to near death with Goblin being surprised that Spider-Man snapped and unleashed his full strength upon him.

Suddenly realizing that killing him would only make him just as much as monster as the Goblin, Spider-Man released him after pinning him against a wall.

Goblin used this opportunity to activate his glider to impale Spider-Man. However, he did not account for Spider-Man's Spider-Sense and he jumped out of the way resulting in Goblin impaling himself and dying. After watching one of his greatest enemies die, Spider-Man reflects on even though he is dead, he feels no satisfaction and Gwen's death would still be a major part of his life. Afterwards, Mary Jane consoled Peter after the death of Gwen.

Having fingers pointed at him for the death of both Stacys, Spider-Man was confronted by Luke Cage and the Punisher, only to prove himself and befriend them both. Soon after, Harry Osborn (Norman Osborn's son) took the mantle of the Green Goblin and kidnapped Flash Thompson, Mary Jane and Aunt May. Spider-Man found Harry at his father's old home and had him arrested and freed his friends.

The Original Clone Saga

ASM 149 92

After the death of Gwen Stacy, Peter was in a state of depression that almost led him to quit being Spider-Man altogether as he regularly blamed himself for Gwen's death.

After many months of grieving, Gwen Stacy pops up, seemingly alive with no real explanation. Peter as Spider-Man investigated this sudden return of Gwen, and would come to find out that her return was the work of a new villain called the "Jackal" who was actually Miles Warren, one of Peter and Gwen's biochemist professor at Empire State University where they both studied.

It was revealed that Miles had fallen in love with the young Gwen Stacy when she was alive. But when Gwen died, Miles was driven into insanity and sought to clone her, to bring her back to life, while blaming Spider-Man for her death.

After many failed attempts, Miles made perfect clones of Gwen Stacy and even Spider-Man. With this new clone of Spider-Man made, Miles tells the clone that he is the original Peter Parker and kidnaps the original Peter Parker to do battle with Miles' clone who thought he was the original Peter Parker.

After much battle, the two Spider-Men decide to team-up against Miles, while he was planting a bomb nearby. After attempts to prevent Jackal from escaping, the bomb goes off, seemingly killing one of the Spider-Men and Jackal.

Peter drops the body of the dead Spider-Man in an incinerator and starts to perform a genetics test on himself to see if he is the first and original Peter Parker. However, nervous from the entire experience and what the result will be, Peter does not look at the test results and claims that he is the real Peter Parker because he remembers having feelings for Mary Jane before the clone appeared, and comes to a conclusion that he is the first and original Peter Parker, and continues his role as Spider-Man.

The clone of Gwen Stacy hopes to move on with her life by leaving Empire State University to start over somewhere new.

A "Friend" from Outer Space

Secret-wars-8-003

While reading a newspaper about certain heroes going missing, Spider-Man was zapped out of New York and into Battleworld, created by the Beyonder.

Spider-Man fights alongside the heroes, but during a battle of heroes vs. villains, Spider-Man's costume is ripped and damaged. The heroes point out the base where Spider-Man can get a new costume of some kind and he head over. Spider-Man then witnesses a black floating ball that morphs around himself, getting rid of the rips in his costume, but making it completely different and entirely black with a giant white spider on the chest and eye pieces.

Spider-Man takes the costume and continues to fight alongside the heroes to stop Galactus from devouring the planet.

After the first Secret Wars is over, most are sent back to where they came from including Spider-Man, who popped up back in New York. Every noticed Spider-Man's new costume and he decided to keep it. However, he started to notice some new features about the costume that his old one didn't have. This new black costume had it's own stronger and organic webbing and it was able to turn into regular clothing on command.

During his time with the black suit, Spider-Man caught a murderer the "Sin-Eater" whom Edward Brock was writing about in the paper. After publishing the man's identity in the paper and the supposed dialogue he had with him, but after Spider-Man discovered the real Sin-Eater and brought him to justice, it was revealed that Eddie was making the entire thing up and was blackballed from all media outlets. This made Eddie angry and made him grow a deep hate for Spider-Man for ruining his life.

Finding out the suit is alive

Meanwhile, Spider-Man had questions about his new suit, since it made him web Black Cat back into his arms and the suit was taking out Spider-Man at night while he was asleep to fight crime. Unaware of the latter but still tired, Spider-Man web swung to the Baxter Building to enlist the help of Reed Richards of the Fantastic Four who was eager to study the costume.

After some testing, it was found out that the black suit that Peter was wearing actually an alive symbiote that was trying to permanently bond with Peter, the host. Peter tried to get the suit off, but the symbiote was only getting tighter around him.

Mr. Fantastic finally decided to blast it off Peter using a Sonic Blaster he had and keep the symbiote for study. Peter swung back home in a spare Fantastic Four costume, happy that the symbiote was off him.

Meanwhile later that night, the symbiote snuck out of Reed Richards' lab and got itself back onto Peter by changing transforming into Peter's classic red and blue classic costume. Peter put it on, and the symbiote made itself apparent once more. Worried, Peter gambled that the Our Lady of Saints Church bells would produce a sound intense enough to get the symbiote off him once again.

However, Peter passed out before the symbiote did. Feeling sorry for Peter and confused, it willingly left Peter, weak and alone.

Getting the symbiote off

The Symbiote, weak and dying, slithered down into the church where Eddie Brock was, and bonded with him. Eddie dubbed himself "Venom" and waited and watched Peter as Spider-Man to strike at the right time.

Peter returned to his red and blue classic costume, but Black Cat adore his former black symbiote so she made him a cloth version that Peter could wear and get off easy.

Distracted that he let someone get hurt, the Sin-Eater gets the upper hand on Peter. During the fight Peter notices a police badge on the Sin-Eater's belt, the same one that belonged to DeWolff. When accused of killing Jean, the Sin-Eater admits to killing her. Spider-Man then tends to a fallen Aunt May, as the Sin-Eater gets away since Peter's web-shooters' were damaged during the fight.

Some time later at Daily Bugle, the Sin-Eater arrives looking for J. Jonah Jameson and before he could kill Joe Robertson, Peter Parker, who was at the Daily Bugle, knocks Sin-Eater out using an old typewriter. The Sin-Eater is unmasked and taken by the police. During the interrogation which is being attended by Daredevil and Spider-Man, the Sin-Eater is identified as Emile Gregg who tells his interrogators that he was hearing voices, which prompted him to commit the murders.

However, Daredevil hears Emile's heartbeat pattern and doesn't recognize it from an earlier encounter with the Sin-Eater and convices Spider-Man to search Emile's apartment. They arrive there to see that the apartment next to Emile's has been recently broken into. Some unopened mail reveals the apartment is Stan Carter's, and Daredevil opens a closet to find guns, Sin-Eater costumes, and a tape recorder with Stan's voice.

Daredevil and Spider-Man come to the final conclusion that Stan Carter is the real Sin-Eater that murdered Jean and Emile Gregg, who was clearly had a unstable mind, thought Stan's reading of his own war journal were voices in his head, leading him to break into Stan's apartment and become a copycat killer.

Spider-Man vs. Stan Sin-Eater

The two then recall that Sin-Eater intended to kill J. Jonah Jameson before and is most likely going to Jonah's penthouse where Betty Brant and Marla Jameson are while Jonah is attending a conference in Florida.

As planned, the Sin-Eater goes to Jonah's penthouse and when he was about to kill Betty, Spider-Man crashes through the window just in time and violently beats Sin-Eater while Betty watches in horror.

Daredevil appears try to prevent an enraged Spider-Man from killing the already unconscious Sin-Eater. Still enraged, Spider-Man punches Daredevil out of the apartment.

Daredevil comes back and starts taunting Spider-Man who is easily provoked in his current mindset and goes to fight Daredevil, but manages to defeat Spider-Man who's fighting abilities are not as good, since he is driven by his rage. Daredevil defeats Spider-Man by beating him unconscious with his billy club weapon.

Daredevil vs. Spider-Man

Stan Carter is finally taken into custody and it is revealed by agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. that he was driven insane by PCP drugs he took after his partner was killed, which also gave him superhuman reflexes and skills.

Much later, it is soon revealed to the public that Stan Carter might be found not guilty by insanity, an angry mob, which included Jean's father, were willing to kill Stan themselves for his crimes. As Stan was being taken to Riker's Island by police with riot gear, he and the police was attacked by the mob.

In a desperate attempt to save himself and Carter, Daredevil cried out Spider-Man's real name causing Peter to quickly swoop in and save both Daredevil and Carter from the mob.

Later on a rooftop, both Spider-Man and Daredevil reveal each other's secret identities to each other and Matt even offered his legal services to Peter if he required it in the future.

Kraven's Last Hunt

  • See: Web of Spider-Man #31

After having a nightmare that Peter is turning into Kraven the Hunter, he sets out web-swinging when he was attacked by Kraven himself.

He was captured, where Kraven then shot Spider-Man in-between the eyes with a rifle. Kraven then placed Spider-Man in a coffin and buries him alive in a mock funeral.

Crawling

After burying Spider-Man, Kraven dons a mock black Spider-Man costume, calling himself "The Spider-Man" and plans to become a "better" Spider-Man than Peter. Kraven even drinks from a "sacred essence" of herbs and roots to become more like Spider-Man.

Kraven also rescues Mary Jane from muggers, but after seeing Kraven brutally beat on the muggers, she quickly puts together that this "Spider-Man" isn't Peter Parker.

The police soon catch on to Kraven's brutal beatings of criminals as Spider-Man and the police try to stop "Spider-Man". The police try, but can't catch Kraven, saying that he had hospitalized 15 men and possibly killed one.

The Spider then corners criminal Vermin in the sewer, overpowers him and brings him to the surface.

Meanwhile at Spider-Man's grave, Peter's hand emerges from the ground.

As Kraven claims victory over Vermin, the real Spider-Man emerges from the grave he was put in, realizing that he was only heavily drugged by Kraven.

After grabbing a newspaper that was on the ground, Peter sees the date and sees that he has been in the grave for two weeks and that Kraven has been Spider-Man while Peter was gone. After checking on Mary Jane, Peter sets out to find Kraven.

Thunder

Upset that Peter was dead for two weeks because of Kraven's drug, he attacked Kraven. Smiling, Kraven believed he had won over Spider-Man by saying that "killing" and impersonating Spider-Man, proved his superiority over Peter.

Donning his Spider costume, Kraven releases Vermin to attack Spider-Man. At first, Spider-Man fights Vermin but then backs off, refusing to play Kraven's game. After Vermin overwhelms Spider-Man, Kraven jumps in helping Spider-Man by seperating the two, yet releases Vermin, promising to never hunt again.

Kraven helps Spider-Man up, urging him to go after Vermin. Spider-Man goes after Vermin, while Kraven stays behind.

Feeling complete, Kraven commits suicide by shooting himself with a hunting rifle.

The Rise of Venom

As Spider-Man, Peter fought crime as he usually does but twice he was almost killed. Waiting for the train, Peter was pushed into the train tracks and while on a building, Peter's foot was grabbed, almost making him fall to his death if he didn't act quick enough. Both times, something got past his Spider-Sense and Peter was unknown who was behind this.

Posing as Peter, Venom finally made a move on Peter by kidnapping Peter's wife, Mary Jane. He awaited the fight with Spider-Man as Eddie wanted to kill him for ruining his life. Although Venom’s twisted sense of morality did not allow him to physically harm Mary Jane, Spider-Man immediately realized the nature of this threat and he got the Sonic Blaster from Reed Richards to use it against Eddie.

Meeting at the same church where Peter tried to get the symbiote off him, Peter uses the Sonic Blaster on Eddie, only to find out that the symbiote had a stronger bond than ever with Eddie and the Sonic Blaster barely fazed him.

During the battle between the two, Spider-Man escaped webbing that Venom trapped him in and decided to make Eddie use up all his webbing, which the symbiote itself was getting the webbing from, with Venom tired from expelling so much webbing, Spider-Man used this and defeated Venom.

162983031 ac7ade2302 o

Spider-Man then brought Venom to the Fantastic Four who imprisoned him in a sonic containment cell, which kept the symbiote at bay from Eddie and kept him sleep for a while. The Fantastic Four then shipped Venom to the government super-prison in the Colorado Rockies called the Vault.

A young guard named Hugh Taylor who had just been assigned to the Vault was fooled into thinking that Venom was a fallen colleague and released the gate mechanism, which Eddie used to his advantage to rebond with the symbiote, kill the guard and escape back to New York City, where he confronted Spider-Man for another fight.

This time, Spider-Man used reverse psychology towards Venom, by taunting the alien symbiote to return to him. The alien, wanting to be with Spider-Man again, attempted to leave Eddie and to re-bond with Spider-Man. However, the trauma of trying to detach itself from Brock’s nervous system was too much to bear for the symbiote.

The alien costume felt unconscious, as did Eddie, and both were returned to the Vault.

The Continued Clone Saga

Spidey73

Aunt May suffered a debilitating heart attack, this also led to the Parkers meeting Ben Reilly, a clone of himself whom Peter had fought earlier. Reilly created a similar spider-costume, dubbed the Scarlet Spider by the Daily Bugle and helped Spider-Man in his adventures. Shortly afterward, Mary Jane became pregnant and the apparent revelation that Ben was the original Peter Parker and Peter the clone prompted Peter to retire from Spider-Man and move to Portland. After a crisis in Portland resulted in minor damage to Peter's cellular structure that prevented him from accessing his powers, Peter chose to accept the retirement and focus on family.

Back in New York, Reilly eventually assumed the identity of Spider-Man himself, since the second villain by the name of Doctor Octopus tarnished the reputation of the Scarlet Spider. After a few months in Portland, Peter and Mary Jane returned to New York, with Peter's powers returning after a strange illness was revealed to be his body 'resetting' itself. Although his powers were unpredictable for a while and prone to cutting out at inopportune moments, as Peter's powers returned, he and Ben began to contemplate the possibility of both of them acting as Spider-Man after the recent battle against Onslaught resulted in the loss of the FF and many of the Avengers. This plan was cut short when Mary Jane was rushed to hospital while giving birth due to an unexpected medical emergency, later revealed to have been staged by Norman Osborn, the original Green Goblin; Osborn had survived his apparent death due to an increased healing factor as part of his powers that nobody had known about before. Having stolen the body of the Parker's baby, the Goblin revealed that he had manipulated the tests that confirmed that Peter was the clone and Ben the original with the goal of destroying Peter's life, angered when Peter had managed to move past that revelation to make a new life for himself. During the subsequent confrontation, Ben Reilly jumped in front of the Goblin's glider when he sent it flying towards Peter, sacrificing himself to save him. Finally convincing Peter that he was the original, Reilly's body disintegrated after. Due to this "revelation" and the fact that the pregnancy was a miscarriage, Peter once again became Spider-Man.

Spider-Phoenix

After receiving a letter from Captain Britain at the Daily Bugle asking for Spider-Man's assistance, Peter goes out to ally and help the Excalibur team.

After seeing Rachel Summers down, the Phoenix Force saw a new host in Spider-Man, as they fuse to become what he called, "Spider-Phoenix" for a short while to attempt to save Captain Britain from what he thought was D'Spayre and Nightmare attacking.

With his nearly limitless power, Spider-Phoenix killed Nightmare and D'Spayre easily, but they turned out to be robots. The Phoenix Force quickly left Peter, as he becomes normal again.

Maximum Carnage

Carnage and his team

During Harry Osborn's funeral, Peter promises Mary Jane that he'll take a break from being Spider-Man for some time.

Meanwhile, serial killer Cletus Kasady is being transferred to the newly opened Ravencroft Institute. Unknown to anyone, however, it's revealed that the Carnage symbiote had permently fused with Kasady's blood. Kasady releases it by cutting his wrists with his handcuffs, creating a perfect copy and turns into Carnage once again.

After killing many guards, Carnage frees female super villian, Shriek, who has the ability to manipulate sound at will. Both set out to find and kill Venom and Spider-Man. Along the way, they add Spider-Man's Doppelganger as their "pet", along with Demogoblin, and Carrion.

Once Peter hears that Carnage has broken out of jail, he breaks his promise to Mary Jane and goes on a hunt for Carnage. As Spider-Man, Peter finds Carnage's team but is violently beaten and overpowered by Doppelganger and Shriek. Just before the finishing blow, Cloak (along with Dagger) come to Spider-Man's aid by teleporting him to somewhere safe to tend to his wounds.

Spider-Man has now formed his own team consisting of himself, Venom, Cloak, Dagger and Black Cat. They attack the villains but they are again defeated.

After the defeat, they add Captain America, Michael Morbius, Deathlok, Iron Fist, Nightwatch and Firestar to the team.

All the heroes band together in a final fight against Carnage's team at the Statue of Liberty where Venom is being held. Venom escapes and joins Spider-Man in the final battle.

In a last ditch effort, Iron Fist and Dagger channel their energy through a device Deathlok has to create an energy that will bring love and hope into all of Carnage's team, to weaken them for further attack by Spider-Man's team. All the villains are defeated, except for Carnage who escapes.

Soon after Carnage fakes his death, Carnage ambushes Venom alone. Venom tackles Carnage into an electric generator and it explodes, defeating Carnage. Carnage is then placed in a stasis chamber while the rest of his team are taken to jail while Venom makes his escape.

The Final Chapter

After many more months of adventuring, Norman Osborn returned to take control of the Daily Bugle, by providing faked evidence that he had never been the Green Goblin and discrediting all contradicting sources. This angered Peter, which caused Spider-Man to brutally beat Norman, which was all caught on a hidden camera in his house. On a staged confrontation and the apparent murder of a small-time criminal using what appeared to be Spider-Man's webbing, Osborn was able to create the fake impression that Spider-Man was a criminal, and increased pressure was placed on capturing him. In order to continue his crime-fighting career and investigate the fraudulent claims, Parker relinquished his Spider-Man identity while creating four unique personas: Dusk, Hornet, Prodigy, and Ricochet. As Dusk, Parker was able to investigate the villain Trapster, the only person capable of creating a convincing duplicate of his webbing and convince him to confess to the crime to hurt Osborn and publicly exonerate Spider-Man of the murder charge. He also used Prodigy to present fake evidence that someone else had attacked Osborn dressed as Spider-Man, at which point he resumed his Spider-Man identity. Later, the Black Marvel (Golden Age hero) acquired the four costumes and gave them to four teenagers, forming a team he named the Slingers.

Aunt May was later discovered to still be alive; the woman who seemingly died was in actuality a genetically modified actress. Parker, Mary Jane, and Aunt May moved to an apartment in Manhattan. Parker had promised Mary Jane to give up his Spider-Man identity, but he would continually sneak out at night as Spider-Man. Their marriage began to strain, partially because of Mary Jane's new modeling career and in part because she discovered Parker's secret. Before they could reconcile, however, Mary Jane was supposedly killed when her airplane exploded. For a long time, Parker refused to believe she was dead, but eventually grew to accept it.

Parker discovered Mary Jane was alive, she was captured by a villain who had been stalking her prior to her airplane flight. After a brief reconciliation, Mary Jane requested to leave Peter once more, saying that she needed time to adjust by herself.

A New Lease on Life

Peter took a job as a teacher at his somewhat beloved school, Midtown High. After getting this job, he encountered a strange man named Ezekiel Sims who possessed powers very similar to his, and presented Peter with the possibility that his powers had been bestowed on him by mystical forces, effectively making Peter a "totem" that connected the animal to human realms.

Soon, Peter encountered villains linked to him through his new-found nature as a Spider-Totem. The first was Morlun, who almost beat Spider-Man to death and seemingly met his end after Peter injected himself with a lethal dose of radiation, which hurt Morlun whenever they made contact and weakened him enough for his servant Dex to take the opportunity and shoot him down. Peter let his guard down after the exhausting encounter with Morlun, allowing Aunt May to discover his secret identity when she entered his apartment and found him sleeping with his tattered costume on the floor. After May came to grips with the fact her nephew was Spider-Man, their relationship grew stronger. Mary Jane Watson also returned to Peter's life, and both lovers reunited.

After defeating Shathra, a predator who originated from the Astral Plane, Spider-Man was warned by Ezekiel about the coming of the Gatekeeper, a mystical being who allegedly saw Peter unworthy of his powers and wanted to kill him. During an ensuing confrontation against Spider-Man, the Gatekeeper revealed the truth. Peter was chosen to become a Spider-Totem due to his nature, a prey to bullying during his teenage years whose reserving anger made him the perfect candidate to become a hunter who would never give in to submission again. Through visions imparted by the Gatekeeper, Peter also discovered that Ezekiel was the one Spider-Totem who are deemed unworthy, due to having searched for the source of the power instead of having it bestowed upon him, and that the predators that confronted Peter were actually meant for Ezekiel. As Peter was recovering from the encounter with the Gatekeeper, Ezekiel brought him to the temple where he had obtained his powers in South America and planned to use him in a sacrificial ritual to maintain his abilities. The ritual linked Peter's mind with Ezekiel's, and made him realize he had wasted his gifts unlike Peter. When a spider monster emerged to kill Peter, Ezekiel gave his life to save him. A Shaman named Miguel who had previously helped Ezekiel buried his body. Peter asked him whether his powers came from science or magic, Miguel told him that only one explanation didn't necessarily contradict the other. Changes came to Spider-Man's very own physical nature when he confronted a new villain known as the Queen, who invaded New York and used her powers to take control over the citizens who possessed the vestige of an insect gene. As a consequence of a mutation caused by the Queen during a confrontation against her, Peter's body began to slowly transform into that of a giant spider and fell into becoming a prey to the Queen's mind-control. The Queen planned to use Peter's mutated body to breed, but it seemingly die due to complications arising from the transformation. From the husk of his monstrous form, Peter emerge alive and well, but having gained the ability to produce organic webbing, in addition he had augmented strength and spider-sense. During a subsequent fight against the Queen, Spider-Man disarmed a bomb she planned to detonate, and she was seemingly killed when S.H.I.E.L.D attacked her subterranean base.

Doctor Strange then arrives, telling the Avengers that the reason why Tony was drunk, the Kree attacked and many other horrible things happened out of nowhere is because the Scarlet Witch is slowly growing more insane, and as she grows more insane, she starts to warp reality to her favor, since she driven by the lost of her children years ago, that she created herself.

She tries to hides these memories, but it just makes her grow even more crazy enough to think that the Avengers took her children from her. Captain America, Doctor Strange and others go after Wanda, with Strange placing her in a trance, with Magneto to taking her away.

The Other

Months following from the disbandment of the Avengers, Peter joined forces with a fortuitous group of heroes present in the Raft Superhuman Security Prison to help contain escaping inmates. Once the situation was contained, the group remained together and became the New Avengers, without the governments' involvement and financial burdens towards the Avengers' history. Peter, May and Mary Jane subsequently moved to the team's headquarters in the Avengers Tower after both Peter's and May's places were destroyed by a mutated former classmate named Charlie Weiderman.

After joining the New Avengers, Peter discovered that his skin was shedding for some reason. Peter had to know that the situation was hopeless, Morlun got into a fight with him and brutally defeated him, ripping his left eye out and eating it. The bloodied, rapidly shedding Spider-Man was rushed to the hospital. Morlun attacked him again and MJ attempts to stop him, but Morlun throws her across the room and breaks her arm. However, Peter wakes up and his savage, spider-side takes over, developing sharp teeth and stingers in his wrists. He seemingly killed Morlun in front of Mary Jane, then falling dead after.

Iron Man took away Peter's body later, but as the New Avengers mourned over his presumed death in another room, Spider-Man's body disappeared, leaving behind his shed skin. Peter's body had briefly sprung to life and formed a cocoon underneath a bridge. In this cocoon, a voice tells Peter he never understood what he was and is too scared to truly be a "Spider-Man", only focusing on his humanity and not his inner spider. Morlun managed to kill the human, but the spider survived and killed Morlun to save them both. It tells him that he will only be reborn if he accepts both parts, asking him: "Are you the man who dreamed of being a spider? Or the spider who dreamed of being a man? Are you the one...or are you the other?" Peter agreed and is resurrected with a new and completely healed body. He went to the Avengers Tower and reunites with MJ and Aunt May.

He encountered a being made of thousands of pirate spiders that ate his old body called Ero, who claimed that they are both parts of the same whole, that cosmic forces are wanting control of his life and that “she” is his opposite. She told him a spider-deity known as the Great Weaver thought that his death was premature and revived him, others disagreed and was being pulled in different directions as a result. After a brief fight, "she" escaped. Peter to try and reconcile his changes, resulting from the confrontation with Morlun and the shedding of his skin caused by 'the man and the spider'. While saving everyone inside collapsing building, he discovered he gained greater speed, poisonous razor-sharp stingers located within his arms, night vision, increased sensory awareness via vibratory patterns transmitted through the hairs on his body and through his web lines, a greater clinging ability, and equally superhuman strength in order to carry heavy objects on his back.

Using this as an escape, Peter goes underground, only to be found by Frank Castle and brought to Captain America's bunker, where they treat Peter for his injuries.

Spider-Man then dons his classic costume, and joins Captain America's side against Iron Man's forces.

After a final battle in Manhattan, Captain America sees the chaos and destruction that is brought to the city as a result of the superheroes fighting. Captain America tells his side to stand down, as he unmasks to allow the police to arrest him and bring him to trial.

After the Civil War, an old enemy resurfaced, Kingpin, still in prison hired a professional sniper to kill Peter Parker and his loved. With his spider-sense, Peter sensed the sniper, but not quickly enough as he got one shot off and hit Peter's Aunt May Parker.

Back in Black

Peter dons the cloth version of the black suit

While Mary Jane attempts to call 911, Peter believes that she'll die before they get there so he swings out as Peter Parker and delivers Aunt May to a hospital.

After Peter tells Mary Jane to book Aunt May in her maiden name and sign every piece of paper she needs to, he swings off in an attempt to find the person that shot Aunt May.

Jumping back to Mary Jane, the doctor tells her that Aunt May is in a coma. He goes on to say that the machines are doing all they can, but due to Aunt May's age, her body can not pick up the slack to heal properly and they she will eventually die.

Meanwhile in the rain, Peter goes to a very high part of a building to receive the cloth version of the symbiote costume Black Cat made him long ago, and continues by saying that once he finds the person that shot Aunt May, he will kill them.

The Gloves Are Off

After putting on the costume, Peter is on the phone with Mary Jane who tells him that it is all up to Aunt May to make the recovery. Peter swings off in the black costume ready to find the person who shot Aunt May.

Looking at Aunt May with Mary Jane

Peter finds a man who doesn't give him information, so he throws the man out the window, only to catch him at the last second by his toe with webbing. Peter then asks again, and receives three names, only one matters to Peter, "Jake Martino".

Peter then webs up two police men's path in order to use their car to use a computer inside to find more details on Jake Martino.

Peter finds an address with an older man who says that Jake does live here and pays his rent on time and in cash, but only recently left with bags for the train station.

At the train station, Peter finds Jake as he is running. As the caught man is about to say something, he is shot by someone else who gets away right before Peter tags him with a spider-tracer.

Peter rides follows him to the hospital where he dies. Peter then catches up to the man he stuck the spider-tracer on and webs him mouth up, taking the phone from him. Before the man attempts to hang up, Peter realizes the voice is Wilson Fisk, the Kingpin. Fisk asks Spider-Man what can he do for him with Peter telling that he can die.

EndOfTheROad

Peter finds and confronts Wilson Fisk

In regular clothing, Peter returns to the hospital to see that Aunt May still has not made any progress. Mary Jane also tells him that they keep paying with cash to keep Aunt May in a private room and extra care from the hospital.

Peter tells her that he will get more money, but Mary Jane cuts him off saying that eventually they will draw attention to Aunt May, which will draw attention to Peter and Mary Jane and they will all eventually be in more danger.

Peter transfers some of his blood and then leaves Mary Jane for the prison Wilson Fisk is in. Both get dressed with Fisk in his classic white threads with Peter as Spider-Man in his black costume. Both arrive in the middle of the prison floor with Peter saying that now it is between him and Spider-Man and it all ends now.

Fisk v. Parker

Smoked

Wilson Fisk, broken and beaten in his bed

As Spider-Man, Peter arrives in the prison as Fisk calls Peter a "chump" for believing in the greater good and taunts Peter about nearly killing Aunt May. Spider-Man doesn't say anything except for hitting Fisk a few times. Spider-Man then takes off his mask and upper part of the suit saying that Spider-Man isn't here to kill Wilson Fisk, but Peter Parker is.

Peter begins beating Fisk, stating that Fisk never had any real power. Fisk enraged, attacks Peter with Peter dodging Fisk's attacks with ease. After counting to three, he throws Fisk against a wall telling him that he did better than kill him, he beat him and everyone in the prison saw so and will tell their friends. Peter also makes it clear that if Aunt May does die, he will come back for him and kill him, telling the prisoners that if they go after his family, they will experience the same beating that Fisk got.

Mary Jane talks with Peter tell him that they might have to move Aunt May to another hospital that isn't eating up all their money as fast. Peter doesn't want to do this, so Mary Jane tells Peter that he will have to wait.

All We Can Do Is Wait

Peter chats with Aunt May all night, hoping she'll wake up and talk to him.

The next day, Peter steals a complete blood test folder on Aunt May which tells Peter that his stronger, radioactive blood didn't help Aunt May in any way. Meanwhile, the hospital reverend arrives, and asks Mary Jane if they have any plans for a funeral.

Later in the day, a second printed report is given to a police officer named Lieutenant Detective Robert Delint by the head nurse. They have a little talk about the missing first report that Peter stole, the new radiation in May's blood, and Mary Jane paying in cash only.

Knocing officer out

Peter, knocking out the police officer

Delint goes up to May's room and Peter, sensing him with his spider-sense, hides out of sight. Mary Jane greets Delint and before he can get any details, all the lights go out, except for the equipment keeping the hospitalized people alive. Peter appears in the dark and knocks Delint out with one punch.

With Delint suspicious, Peter and Mary Jane realize that they have to transfer Aunt May as soon as possible. Peter then finds himself breaking nine different laws in order to transfer his aunt, which has him thinking how he can really go to jail because his fingerprints are everywhere.

Looking for Help

WOW

Peter, stunned that he let out enough webbing to tie Iron Man up

Peter is thinking to himself how everything is his fault, starting with the reveal of his identity at the start of the superhero Civil War, leading up to now.

He and Mary Jane are looking at Aunt May, when a doctor comes in telling Peter Morgen (Peter's fake name) that his aunt, May Morgen has barely shown any brain activity. After the doctor starts asking questions, Peter starts lashing out at the doctor, both angry at him for asking and himself.

Peter leaves, but the doctor catches up to him and shows him a newspaper of Peter unmasking, saying that Spider-Man saved his uncle two years ago and he knows that Peter is Spider-Man and that if he ever had a chance to return the favor, he would.

He says that he can stall, but if the hospital needs something, he can't refuse. Peter says he won't have to stall for long and swings off into New York City, without a mask.

Meanwhile at Tony Stark's tower, Tony suits up to find Peter breaking in, and charges him out a high window and into the streets.

On the street, Iron Man is webbed up as Peter is talking him, saying that it is his fault for Aunt May's fate, since he told Peter to show his secret identity to the world, putting Aunt May and Mary Jane in danger. After Iron Man is charged back up, he escapes, telling Peter he can't help him, because by the state, he is defined as an outlaw and that the next time they run into his other, he will arrest him.

Later at the hospital, Peter returns empty handed with Jarvis showing up shortly after him. Jarvis lies and says that May is his cousin and covers the bill with two million dollars. The doctor then tells Peter that is nothing humanly possible to bring Aunt May back to where she was. Peter doesn't accept that and suits up in his Spider-Man costume in pursue of help., with no avail.

Deal with the Devil

File 204477 30 satanmarriage628

On his way to the hospital, Peter follows an odd red headed girl that runs off. A woman in red then transforms into the demon Mephisto, telling Peter that he can save his Aunt May. Saying that he does not want Peter's soul, but his marriage to Mary Jane.

Peter and Mary Jane are given until midnight that very to decide. After many hours, Peter and Mary Jane decide that they agree to the terms, only if Peter's identity is wiped from everyone's mind, unless Peter unmasks right in front of them. Mary Jane also whispers to Mephisto another, unspecified offer in return for Mephisto, telling him to put Peter's life back exactly how it was and give him a chance at happiness.

He agrees, but not before telling the couple that the little red headed girl that Peter follows was actually their future daughter, but will now never exist because of their choice.

Mephisto then changes time so that they were never married.

Back in the new timeline, Peter wakes in living in Aunt May's house again with a party being thrown for Harry Osborn who introduces Lilly Hollister and Carlie Cooper. Peter sees Mary Jane sadly leaving the party, while the guests all toast to a "Brand new day."

Brand New Day

Amazing Spider-Man Vol 1 546 Textless

Mephisto re-arranged history to make it so that Peter unwittingly would not show up to his wedding day, but stayed with Mary Jane as a couple for a long time. This re-arrangement also caused it to be Doctor Strange who erased people's memories about Parker's secret identity (except Mary Jane, the Jackal, and all his clones, although he later shared his identity with the Fantastic Four as well as somehow restoring Harry Osborn to life) and protected Peter with a "psychic blind-spot," preventing people from being able to consciously deduce that Peter Parker and Spider-Man were the same person unless anyone actually saw him take his mask off. Mary Jane was bitterly hurt from having knowledge of a time of great emotional pain that no one else on the planet remembered. They agreed that they were still in love with each other but they had to accept that their relationship put everyone they cared about in danger and it was best for them to remain as friends.

Harry Osborn was back from five years in a European rehab center. While searching for a job, Peter joined the Daily Bugle again which was now bought out by Dexter Bennett, and began to work as a paparazzi reporter, which was something that neither his Aunt May or Harry approved of. However, after his photographs of the celebrity Bobby Carr resulted in the deaths of women by a crazy obsessed super villain stalker, Peter decided to destroy the new photos he took, resulting in Bennett firing him. Peter soon learned that Bennett had blacklisted him to nearly every news source in town preventing Peter from finding a job. However, Harry suggested that Peter find a job at a news source that was Bennett's competition, which he did by joining the Front Line, which was not under Bennett's influence.

Secret Invasion

In the Savage Land, the Skrulls planted a fake S.H.I.E.L.D. team that eventually engages the Avengers, but they successfully escaped. Ka-Zar and his people witnessed this, believing that there was something odd happening, but realizing that the Skrulls had infiltrated Earth, while also causing disgruntlement between the Avengers and S.H.I.E.L.D.

In the Savage Land, Iron Man slipped into a seizure as the Skrull ship opened, revealing its cargo: Spider-Man and the other superheroes who emerged from the ship, asked the gathered Avengers who exactly they were.

In orbit, Agent Brand and her team were safe in stasis gel, she called in for help only to realize that a massive Skrull invasion fleet had just arrived on Earth's doorstep.

At the lab, Reed realized how the Skrulls became undetectable and turned to tell Hank. Pym pulled out a laser weapon and shot Richards which destabilized him, as Hank transformed into a Skrull.

The assembled heroes from the ship and their counterparts on Earth began fighting, both sides convinced that their opponents were the Skrulls. In the ensuing battle, the Spider-Man and Hawkeye from the ship were both killed and reverted into Skrulls, while Mockingbird insisted she was not an impostor, as she and the real Clint Barton made a tearful reunion. Mockingbird also stated that the Captain America from the ship may, in fact, be the genuine article. While Spider-Woman disappeared into the jungle and Earth's Ms. Marvel headed back to the States, Earth's Iron Man (still suffering from the Skrull virus) started to build himself a new suit from the wreckage of a nearby lab. Not being able to combat the power of the Sentry the Skrulls decided the best way to deal with him was to make Reynolds have a psychotic episode. With Sentry believing that a Skrull posing as the classic Vision told him, opted to stay out of the fight. The Void creating an equal and opposite reaction showed up battling Skrulls and saving his wife promising to do all that The Sentry wouldn't do. Meanwhile, the first wave of Super Skrull were shocked by the troops bearing the abilities of Earth's super-humans arrived.

Dark Reign

Norman Osborn, who had killed the Skrull Queen, Veranke, who posed as Spider-Woman in the final battle, was given Stark's position as director of S.H.I.E.L.D and the Initiative. He donned a altered Iron Man armor with Captain America's color set an became the "Iron Patriot". He dissolved S.H.I.E.L.D and created H.A.M.M.E.R and his personal "Avengers", composed mainly of super-criminals who had served in the Thunderbolts posing as heroes. Osborn had transformed Venom into a more Spider-Man like look to join his Dark Avengers, Peter had to reveal his secret identity to the New Avengers, in order to earn the team's trust. Upon doing so, Jessica Jones fled the place, as she had gone to high school with Peter and had a crush on him.

Amazing Spider-Man Vol 1 597 Textless

Spider-Man defeated by the Dark Avengers

During a trip to the Macroverse, Spider-Man re-revealed to the Fantastic Four his identity. After coming back, he discovered two months had passed in standard time, J.Jonah Jameson had become the new NY major, Aunt May and Jameson's father Jay were in a relationship, Harry had fallen and Michele Gonzales had moved to his apartment. Spider-Man knew he must act against Norman Osborn and his Dark Reign. Using the F4's Unstable Molecules, Spider-Man infiltrated Osborn's Avengers, Venom discovered how Osborn wanted to make his son a new hero called American Son and have him killed in action to increase his Avengers' team some popularity. After Spider-Man was captured by Norman Osborn, Harry confronted Osborn using the American Son Armor with the truth about his father's relationship with Lily Hollister (Harry's girlfriend), Spider-Man prevented Harry from killing Norman.

American Son

Before Spider-Man revealed his plans for the American Son, Harry and Peter were spending some quality time at Central Park, with Harry deciding to go talk to a couple of women. Harry starts by telling them that Pete's painfully shy, forcing Peter to introduce himself and come up with a pickup line that turns the two off. He then misleads them into thinking he lost a bet with Peter just now, implying they really are shallow, inclining the girls to give them their numbers.

Peter inquires to why Harry's so happy, considering the past two months that he's been having such problems. Harry states that that period of darkness was all in the past, he wasn't him himself and now he's taking on life's terms one day at a time. Just then the Avenger's Jet flies overhead, and Harry says to let his father have the skies with his Avengers; "We'll do just fine here in the real world".

Afterward Peter bursts into the Offices of Front Line, demanding who will be with him in destroying Osborn's good name. Ben Urich asks what Peter could have against Norman Osborn; He replies that his jail term is commuted under sealed executive order so as to run the Thunderbolts, his promotion to head of H.A.M.M.E.R. without oversight by the Senate or Congress and how he hijacked the Avengers, setting up shop in New York for all to see, not mentioning the countless acts committed as the Green Goblin. Ben Urich reminds him the golden rule is "proof before print." Osborn's records are sealed, the Thunderbolts are protected by both the Patriot and Superhuman Registration Act; Osborn's in power because the people gave it to him. Peter calls him insane, to which Ben states that if he does find legitimate evidence that he'll print it with his own blood. Norah Winters thinks Peter overreacted about Osborn, which piques her curiosity on the subject.

When Norman Osborn discusses his son with Ms. Hand in his limousine the roof is ripped off by a web, and Norman is carried away by Spider-Man. Norman expresses disappointment that he missed exactly when Spider-Man went insane. Spidey throws him clear into a statue, resolving that now isn't the time to talk since talking doesn't work with him. He tried that. He proceeds to beat him, stating that the family business is closed. Harry Osborn is no longer his son and as far as Norman's concerned he does not exist. Norman warns Spider-Man that he can do whatever he wants, and surprisingly answers his phone before Spider-Man can end their fight permanently. The man on the phone is Harry, who accepted his offer to work for the Avengers. Norman laughs maniacally as Spider-Man storms off, enraged. Harry and a pregnant Lily, stating that he'll build his father's trust, and protect their family, their son, by whatever it takes.

Harry proudly accepting into their ranks and Peter demands to know why Harry's making such a crazy decision, asking exactly what Norman's blackmailing him with. Harry states his feelings towards his father haven't changed and "It is what it is," but Peter asks if that's what he'll say once he starts using again. Before Harry can retort out of anger Peter tells him to look him in the eye and truly say that his sobriety won't be jeopardized, because Norman destroys everything he touches. Harry tells him he's a good friend, but he needs to stay out of his family's business and let him save everyone.

Meanwhile, Norman shows Harry the schematics to Avengers Tower, calling it his playground but reminds him that there are some things about both H.A.M.M.E.R and the Avengers that he's not private yet. That day will come, but today he needs to only mark his territory and set up his apartment there, considering he's "essential personnel." When Harry inquires where Lily is, Norman says she's not there and she's not interested in the Avengers. After the two enter the elevator Norah Winters flirts with an employee, who just happens to see Osborn once a day; Norah says they're going to be special friends.

At Forest Hills, Aunt May and Jameson Sr. talk to Peter about Harry, with May stating its Harry's mistake to make. When she leaves the room, Jameson Sr., tells Peter that he did actually go AWOL. Jay was in Korea, and had a pregnant wife at home, but not even the U.S. army could keep him from seeing her when he was needed. Jay's wife died just after Jameson Jr. was born due to complications, and of course he was labeled AWOL but he wouldn't have had it any other way considering he got to see her one last time. He leaves Peter saying to follow his gut because forever is a long time to regret a mistake.

Aunt May stays up long into the night planning for the wedding, and Jay asks if he can help her "relax." May wants to continue her work but a power outage proves otherwise. Just outside their home an Ock-Bot can be seen from a nearby lamppost. These bots are shown in many different areas around New York. A final panel shows tentacles, with Octavius' reflection from a group of monitors watching the city. Otto contemplates doing something either terrible or great, eventually deciding great.

Lily kisses Harry somewhere atop the Avengers Tower asking how he broke in. Harry kept the old tech-scrambling gadgets and weapons from his criminal career, but never knew they'd come in handy. Lily expresses concern about what'll happen once Norman finds out what he's done but Harry assures her he'll handle him. He tells her that he can cure her, which will solve their problems since the only reason Norman wants her is Menace. He's certain his father has some kind of cure lying around to neutralize people like her, and when she's cured the three of them (including their son) can run away; He'll cure her or die trying. Lily gives him a security card that allows access to the more restricted levels of the building. She mentions level 25 would be a good start so to hurry because whatever happened to her could be affecting the baby.

Harry walks in asking what Spider-Man's doing here, and he replies that he needs to find a place to stash Daken. Harry warns him to escape but before Spider-Man can tell Harry about Norman's project he bursts into the room alongside Ms. Marvel and Hawkeye. "Venom" tells Norman that his other sensed movement in the ducts, and that Daken took Harry from his bed. Norman asks Harry if this is true, and he surprisingly tells him it isn't, stating that that's not "his Spider-Man." Peter was then shot in both legs by Hawkeye immediately after.

It turns out Norman knew that Spider-Man was disguised as Gargan the second he entered the building. Spider-Man tells Harry once more not to buy what his father's selling, so Norman brutally hits him stating that Harry is his. Hawkeye asks if Osborn will let him escape, but he actually has a different plan this time. Norman proceeds to shoot Peter in the head.

Norman reveals his plans for Harry to be the American Son, assuring his arrangements will be made to see Lily and that Spider-Man will not live. Spider-Man managed to survive the head shot thanks to the unstable molecules comprising his mask, however this does not save him from being tortured by Norman's machines, he manages to escape.

She then got word that a cure was being made a Horizon Labs to cure all people given spider powers that would evenually turn into giant spiders that Ana would control. To combat this, Ana used her powers to force J. Jonah Jameson into killing Alistaire Smythe, who was coming up with a cure.

The Jackal then sent Tarantula and Kaine (Peter Parker's clone), to destroy the cure, but Spider-Man regained his spider-sense during the fight and Kaine into the lake of anti-bodies, curing him of his disfigured face, and making him look like a perfect twin clone of Peter Parker. Upset that things were not going her way, Ana used her Sonic Scream to kill the Jackal.

While Ana was busy fighting superheroes, Spider-Man used Doctor Octopus' octo-bots to carry out the cure to all infected New Yorkers. With her powers draining because of New Yorkers being cured, it was time for the killing blow. Ms. Marvel took Kaine, who was wearing the Big Time suit to avoid her sonic screams, and threw him at Ana's head and stabbed her in the back of the head using a stinger he grew from his arm. When Worlds Collide

While web-swinging, Spider-Man came across a differently costumed Mysterio in a warehouse. After a brief conversation, he was shot by Mysterio and sent through a dimensional rift into another dimension, where he encountered the Spider-Man of that world, Miles Morales. Though he initially gained the upper hand, Peter was ultimately subdued by Miles and taken into S.H.I.E.L.D custody. Peter regained conscious and was interrogated by Nick Fury, who believed his story of coming from another universe. Peter told Nick that he was much cooler than the Nick Fury of his world and sent him off with Miles to learn this world's history.

During their talk, however, Peter and Miles were attacked by a robotic avatar of Mysterio, which self-destructed after a brief battle and knocked Miles unconscious. Peter subsequently went off on his own to investigate and was shocked and horrified to discover that his counterpart had died in battle against the Green Goblin, and that not only was the city still mourning his loss, but his identity is now public knowledge. Peter makes his way to Queens, he came across May Parker and Gwen Stacy. Initially furious at what they believed to be a disrespect of their Peter's memory, the two were taken back when a distraught Peter unmasked himself before their eyes. Still, the two attacked Peter until Miles vouched for him, leading to Aunt May passing out.

When May awakened, she went upstairs and heard Peter exchanging stories with Gwen. When Gwen asked what happened to her in his dimension, Peter became uncomfortable and changed the topic. Aunt May and Peter had a tearful reunion and Peter was very surprised to find out he had a relationship with Kitty Pryde. Nick Fury came to pick him and Miles up, and for a quick second, Peter saw Mary Jane's Ultimate counterpart before she ran away. He was taken over to meet Iron Man, where the two began to work on a time-space formula until Miles pointed out a familiar building in a video of a previous fight against Mysterio.

Peter led the charge to Mysterio's headquarters, where they quickly subdued him before he could destroy the portal and be trapped on Earth-1610 forever. Giving Miles his blessing as the new Spider-Man, Peter returned to his world, while online he was searching to see if his world had a Miles Morales counterpart and seems to be shocked by what he discovered.

Goblin Nation & Back Again

"I'm back."

When the Green Goblin returned as the Goblin King and began taking over NYC, Otto was struggling to fight him because the Goblin was aware that it was Otto in Spider-Man's body. After Peter relived all of Otto's memories, he came out of those memories and ready to take his body back. Otto willingly gave up Peter's body but asked him to save his love Anna Maria.

Peter changes back into his red and blue costume and rescues Miguel O'Hara (who was stuck in Peter's time) from the new Spider-Slayers. Peter then calls Aunt May, reassures her he's fine, and goes after the Goblin King. He runs into Liz Allan and her son, along with Dr.Stone. After Stone tries to hurt Peter, Peter tells Miguel to get them out. On the roof of the Alchemax building, Peter fights the Goblin King, who's confused at his return.

In the end, Peter saves Anna Maria, but the Goblin King gets away when Liz shocks Peter with a device. Peter is saddened when he realizes how much Otto and Anna cared about each other, and knowing someone, being Otto, had to die in the process of saving the day.

Spider-Verse

Peter would spend most of the time adjusting to his new status quo, specially coming to terms with his position as CEO of his own company. As Spider-Man, he joined the Avengers in the investigation of the Watcher's murder, the explosion of one of Uatu's eyes at the hands of the Orb caused anyone in the radius of the detonation to have reveal a deep secret related to them. Peter was caught by the explosion, and discovered that another person had been bit by the very same spider which gave him powers, a young lady named Cindy Moon, who Spider-Man rescued from long-term captivity in Ezekiel's penthouse, and adopted the alias of Silk. As soon as she was freed, however, Silk's release left her unprotected from Morlun, whom she believed would not only try to kill her, but also every spider totem.

Several weeks later, Peter was approached by numerous Spider-Men from across the Multiverse, who invited him to join their resistance in Earth-13 against the Inheritors (Morlun and the members of his family), because he was the most important spider of them all for having previously defeated an Inheritor.

During a mission to gather more spiders in 2099 A.D., Peter was surprised to see Otto Octavius among them (having been transported temporarily to said reality months before his death). After Daemos tracked them down to Earth-928 and was later accompanied by the rest of his family, the Spider-Men were forced to split up and flee, Peter unmasked a dying Spider-Man to discover him as an alternate version of Ezekiel, who told him to protect the Other, the Bride and the Scion before dying. When they returned to Earth-13, Otto declared himself in charge.

Spider-Army (Peter Parker's) (Multiverse) from Amazing Spider-Man Vol 3 14 001

Spider-Man leading the Spider-Army.

After defeating Otto for leadership over the team, Peter left with Anya Corazon and Gwen Stacy to find somebody that could help then infiltrate the Inheritors. Shortly upon leaving, the Safe Zone was attacked by Solus, Jennix, and Morlun. After Solus killed the Captain Universe Spider-Man, the Spider-Army was forced to flee. Their new safe zone, Earth-8847 was soon attacked by the Inheritors. Silk, who had gone on her own, contacted them from Earth-3145, and told them to escape there, a radioactive-contaminated Earth where the Inheritors couldn't follow. After finding shelter in the Sims Tower, the Spider-Army discovered this universe's spider-totem, Ben Parker. This version of his uncle, however, was not willing to fight again. Using scrolls which contained the prophecies the Inheritors tried to accomplish given to Spider-Man by Spider-Woman, who had infiltrated the Inheritor's base earlier, the Spider-Army discovered that the Inheritors plan to sacrifice the Other, the Bride and the Scion to stop the emergence of new Spider-Totems, and about Karn, an exiled Inheritor who hunted only to survive hoping to return home. After Peter sent a team to recruit Karn, Kaine revealed to have arrived to Loomworld to fight the Inheritors, having used the Other's full power to kill Solus before being killed by Morlun. After he and Otto convinced Earth-3145's Ben to fight one last time, Spider-Man quickly assembled the Spider-Army and go into battle with the Inheritors.

Spider-Man and the Spider-Army managed to interrupt the ritual the Inheritors were performing, in which they were going to use the blood of The Other, The Scion, The Bride, Kaine's corpse, Benjy Parker, and Silk, to stop the rise of new spiders. Morlun cornered Spider-Man, and started feeding off his essence when Peter used his wrist teleporter to transport himself and Morlun to the lethally radioactive New York of Earth-3145. Silk recovered Peter while leaving Morlun there. The rest of the Inheritors were also brought to Earth-3145 after being defeated. Spider-Man gave them the knowledge of the shelter in Sims Tower, telling Morlun to run if he wanted to live.

The Inheritors were dealt with, the spider-totems were no longer under risk. However, Otto Octavius had killed the Master Weaver, the controller of the Web of Life and Destiny to stop the Inheritors from performing the ritual, for which each member of the Spider-Army could no longer go home by using their teleporters.

As Spider-UK was using his own teleporter to open portals to another realities, Octavius started destroying the Web of Life and Destiny, in an attempt to free himself from the future he had in store for. The Spiders of Earth-616 united forces to take him down. By reading the inscription in Morlun's dagger, it was discovered another Spider could replace the Master Weaver. Karn, who had enough spider essence to act like one, decided to become the new Master Weaver. With a new Master Weaver in place, the Web of Life and Destiny was restored, and Octavius was sent back to his past, losing the memory of the most recent events in the process. Spider-Man and the rest of the spiders were sent back home.

During the collapse of the multiverse, Peter Parker along with other hop onto 616's Reed Richard life-raft to hopefully survive the Earth-616 and Earth-1610 incursion.

The life-raft crashed on Battleworld, a new large stretch of land created by the God of Battleworld, Doctor Doom, who takes various realities and puts them on one stretch of land. This was done by killing the Beyonders, the God's of the multiverse who planned bombs in every version of Molecule Man to destroy the mutiverse and start new. Doom was tasked to kill all versions of MM, only to round them all up and use them to kill the Beyonders. The Beyonder's powers was then taken by Doctor Doom instead of Doctor Strange, and he used it to become a God and reshape the multiverse by putting various reality onto a new earth, Battleworld.

Strange comes to one of two life-rafts on Battleworld, where he finds Miles Morales which he reveals towed away on the Cabal's liferaft to save himself. Miles then tells Strange he remembers his past reality, to Strange's surprise.

Another life-raft was found and opened by a Thor from the Thor Corps with the help of Sheriff Strange, now God Emperor Doom's right hand man and his eye and hears for Battleworld.

Out the raft appears 616 Peter Parker as Spider-Man, 616 Cyclops with the Phoenix Force, Jane Foster as Thor, 616 Black Panther, 616 Reed Richards, Carol Danvers as Captain Marvel and Star-Lord. Star-Lord believes that it has only been an hour that they have been held up in the raft.

PETERANDMILES

Miles seeing Peter

However, Strange tells them that it has been eight years since Doom recreated Battleworld, and that he actually found their liferaft about three years ago, but didn't touch it. He goes on to say that Doctor Doom, now a God, saved them all and that very few, if any people remember their past life and reality, since Doctor Doom had modified their memories upon getting the Beyonder's powers.

Meanwhile, 616 Thanos and the Cabal fight against the Thor Corps, which are the police force in Battleworld and Doom sees this, but doesn't step in. Doctor Strange then teleports all the recently found 616 heroes to the battlefield to step in the battle.

While looking at the battle from his keep, Doomstadt, Doom and Sue Storm sees 616 Reed Richards, while Sue doesn't remember him, Doom says he has been looking for Reed for three years. Doom then teleports to the battlefield, with Scott Summers with the Phoenix Force challenging him. After blasting Thanos when he question's Doom "playing" as God, Cyclops then steps up to insult Doom, telling him he is not fit to rule and how Battleworld is now his. After Cyclops seemingly has the upper hand on Doom, Doom takes Scott by the neck and kills him by snapping his neck with one hand.

Teleport

Strange teleporting everyone away

After this, Doctor Strange tells Black Panther to "Remember this." before he teleports the 616 heroes, Miles Morales and the Cabal away to random places on Battleworld, thinking that Doom will kill all of them. Strange then boldly tells Doom that he will not teleport them back and that for all the power he has amassed, he is still afraid of Reed Richards. Doom then kills Doctor Strange in one move for saying such words and for teleporting the heroes away.

Miles Morales and Star-Lord end up in a part of Battleworld that mixes both Earth-616's and Earth-1610's Manhattan into one land mass.

Back to Basics

Before the collapse of Battleworld at the hands of 616 Reed Richards, it was revealed that Miles Morales actually granted Molecule Man's request of hunger and gave him a hamburger to which MM said "I owe you one".

After the world was restored to the former Earth-616, Miles and Peter were placed on a rooftop together with Miles finding out his mother is alive in this new world, a wish granted by Molecule Man.

In Shanghai, Spider-Man and Mockingbird are riding in the new and improved Spider-Mobile to catch people that are breaking into the Parker Industries Shanghai branch to steal the servers containing all the information from every Web Wear account in the world. Spider-Man catches up to the bad guys car and zaps them with his electrical web shooters, with Mockingbird taking one of the members and asking him questions. Using his new stealth technology, Prowler and Spider-Man trace the group to an underwear base where it is revealed that the files from the Web Wear accounts were already sent around the world to all other bases. Spider-Man and Prowler leave, saving two guards and contacting Nick Fury and Mockingbird that the tracker within the files of Peter's Web Wear watch gave them the location of all the bases. Peter then buys the Baxter Building and renames it Parker Industries, which causes a fight with Johnny Storm. After things settle down, Peter and his team of Johnny Storm, Mockingbird and Prowler go to Europe to stop another thief from a museum by the Zodiac gang and their leader, Scorpio. After Scorpio hits the kill switch on all of his minions, Spider-Man saves them by shooting an antidote to save all them all. Scorpio gets away and Spider-Man returns to America. Civil War II

CIVIL WAR II

In the second Civil War, Spider-Man sides with Captain Marvel's side leading the charge to profile future crimes and attacks before they occur, foretold by an Inhuman named Ulysses. Meanwhile, Iron Man and his side are adopting the position that the punishment cannot come before the crime.

He finds himself at the center of trying to relay the message of “with great power comes great responsibility” to Ulysses.

The Clone Conspiracy

After ruining Regent with the assistance of Iron Man and Mary Jane Watson, whom clad an Iron Spider Armor, tragedy struck when Aunt May's husband, Jay Jameson had been affected with a disease and died. Meanwhile, a company named New U Technologies had surfaced on promoting surgical experiments that uses cloning technology to generate new tissues and organs.

Peter investigated the company and learned that it was actually the Jackal's new operations, who claimed to have found a way to successfully bring people back to life. The Jackal had resurrected several of Peter's allies and foes in an attempt to convince Peter to join forces with him for to better mankind; however, Peter refused his offer.

After a brief fight with some villains who were resurrected by the Jackal, he decided to escaped with help of Spider-Woman who was posing as her reanimated counterpart. Peter realized that she was not the Gwen that he knew and was also surprised to learn that Kaine was still alive. Meanwhile, Kaine brought the real Gwen that he had kidnapped to Horizon University and asked the staff there to hide her.

After he escaped from New U Headquarters, Peter and Gwen went to Horizon University in order to meet with Kaine, but they were too late as Rhino and the new Electro had already attacked and taken Kaine, the reanimated Gwen, and Anna Maria. At the same time, Kingpin appeared and gave him a file containing information about Jackal's private airstrip outside of San Francisco, where a meeting with bio-mass dealers was held. Peter immediately went there and got into a fight with him, but was surprised that Jackal was able to withstand his attacks. Jackal unmasked himself and was revealed to be Ben Reilly, Peter's clone who was previously thought to be dead. Ben explained that he had been resurrected thanks to New U Technologies, and once again tried to convincing Peter join him so they can revive everyone who had died in the past, including Uncle Ben. However, Peter realize that Ben lost his touch to take responsibility on bringing the dead back without any hesitation. When Ben orders the villain to kill Peter, he is backed by Prowler. When Doctor Octopus activates the kill switch to activate the Carrion Virus within the formerly deceased casualties’ bodies such as Doctor Octopus and Ben Reilly, including the living who is implanted with the Carrion Virus Anna Maria, and the living clone like Kaine to death for few minutes, Spider-Man is helped by a dying Gwen to get to New U’s main lab. When Gwen first meet her spider super hero counterpart from another dimension, Spider-Gwen when her counterpart saves Kaine from the fall, Spider-Man tells Gwen that there can be only one true Gwen Stacy, which is Gwen herself. As Gwen sacrifice her life to hold off the dying Goblins and Jack’O Lantern, Spider-Man proceeds to the lab to find Anna, and trust Doctor Octopus to handle the traitorous Ben. Spider-Man and Anna found Silk in the New U’s Fact Channel Studio, where they found Jonah cries for Marla’s second death and regretfully not to listen to Peter about reviving her. Spider-Man finally have a plan to negate the Carrion Virus completely to save all the remaining revived casualties from dying again and cures the living who are implanted with the virus, by activating into Webware worldwide emergency alert via hack.

After the Clone Conspiracy is over, Spider-Man and Anna becoming concern of Ben and Octavius’ fate. When Anna found out that Ben Reilly’s ultimate prototype clone body is suddenly disappeared, Spider-Man realize that either Octavius or Ben have the body now. Spider-Man, Anna, Silk, and Jonah meet up with Kaine and alternate Gwen to confirm how many formerly deceased casualties who dies again or still alive well. Dr. Clarkson, one of Ben’s hired doctor summons Spider-Man and his allies to see all of the New U’s patients whose real body are still alive and currently having their curing proceduce before their clone bodies being disintegrate, such as Prowler and Jerry Salteres. However, Jerry’s curing procedure failed, due to the plant accident that damages Jerry’s lungs and heart, which saddens both Spider-Man and Jerry’s wife Emma, blaming Ben Reilly for this. Anna later reminds Peter not to take it personally.

Shortly, Max Modell arrived with S.H.I.E.L.D. and Horizon Lab agents to lockdown the New U facility and captured most of formerly deceased villains as well, while Lizard and his ill-family hide into the sewers. Spider-Man advices the agents to leave Rhino alone to mourn for now before taking Oskana’s remaining corpse with him while visiting Silk about Jonah’s condition over Marla’s death. Before Kaine leaves to find Ben could be alive somewhere, he calls Peter for being naive to believe that there must be a good side left within Ben. Spider-Man leads the agents to locate where the facility where most of formerly deceased casualties being revived, while some corpse such as his Uncle Ben remained in the coffin. When Rhino gone mad for not leaving Oskana’s remains from under protection of Horizon and S.H.I.E.L.D., Spider-Man tries to calm him down, and lecture him to honor the deaths’ wishes to live on and keep moving forward.

At night, he later goes to Chinatown to make a deal with Kingpin to find Norman Osborn’s whereabout, for helping Spider-Man on stopping the Clone Conspiracy yesterday.

Fall of Parker

Afterwards, Peter teamed-up again with Teresa Durand, a CIA agent with whom Peter had already joined forces in a mission at least months ago during which she was seemingly brainwashed by the Kingpin and Mentallo to believe she was Peter's long-lost sister. Teresa sought Peter's help when on the run from a government organization called the Gray Blade. Hydra's short-lived take-over of the United States of America temporarily put a halt to Peter and Teresa's escapades. Numerous headquarters of Parker Industries around the globe were targeted by the forces of the terrorist organization, namely a unit led by one of Hydra's latest additions, the duplicate of Doctor Octopus, who had gained a physical body through the Jackal's cloning technology. In a last-ditch effort to prevent the resources of Parker Industries from falling in the hands of Octavius and Hydra, Parker had his employees obliterate all systems of the company, running Parker Industries into the ground.

Despite having his civilian reputation smeared due to his company's collapse, Peter quickly got back on his feet. After beginning a short-lived relationship with Parker Industries' former S.H.I.E.L.D. liaison Mockingbird, Peter was hired by Robbie Robertson as the editor for the Daily Bugle's science section. Before Peter recovered himself however, his adventure with Teresa continued, who discovered that she was in fact Mary and Richard Parker's daughter, and shared this information with Peter.

Not long after Peter had decided to reveal his secret identity to Jameson, Jonah was kidnapped by Norman Osborn, and accidentally let it slip that Peter was Spider-Man. In addition to having regained his powers, Osborn had bonded with the Carnage Symbiote, giving birth to the Red Goblin. Peter failed to take down

Together again

Osborn despite the help from his allies, and was overpowered in battle even after Eddie Brock had lent him his symbiote. Peter only managed to defeat Osborn in a fight after tricking him into rejecting the symbiote, having claimed that any credit for his defeat would go to the Carnage symbiote and not Osborn himself. Unfortunately, the process of defeating Osborn cost the life of Spider-Man's biggest fan, Flash Thompson, who had recently become the superhero Agent Anti-Venom.

Back to Basics

Following Osborn's latest defeat, Peter's life was plagued with problems on both sides. As Spider-Man, now-Mayor Wilson Fisk decided to be publicly accepting of him while condemning all other vigilantes, in order to isolate him from his superhero peers. As Peter Parker, his academic credentials were revoked after being accused of plagiarizing his doctoral dissertion from Octavius (and unable to defend himself without revealing his secret identity), resulting in his firing from the Daily Bugle. On the other hand, Peter became romatically involved again with Mary Jane, and was given an opportunity to re-apply for his doctoral thesis on the recommendation of Dr. Connors. For a brief time, Peter Parker and Spider-Man were split into separate beings due to an accident involving the reverse-engineered Isotope Genome Accelerator. However, the separation split Peter down the middle, so both individuals didn't share Peter's sense of responsibility, resulting in a reckless and vain Spider-Man. Peter eventually managed to reverse the process, and merge his two halves back together before the side-effects could worsen and result in their death.

Personality

Spider-Man is commonly seen as a brave and righteous hero with an indomitable sense of justice and responsibility. Peter was shaken by his uncle's tragic death, resulting to vow responsibility which had led him to the path of heroism and humanitarian service. One of Spider-Man's most prominent traits is his sense of humor, even in the face of certain death, Spider-Man can invariably cracks a joke to the annoyance of both friends and foes. His reasons for this varies; either he wants to relieve the stress of a situation, or simply because he wants to hide how scared he really is during a crisis, he also does this to get on the nerves of his opponents, since he knows that if they are angry, that they would normally lose themselves and be a vulnerable opponent. It is generally agreed, however, that whenever a life is in danger, he will stop telling jokes and take the current situation strictly serious.

Spider-Man is also a loner, due to his individualistic style (having been a social outcast in his youth), Spider-Man finds it hard to work in teams. However, he gradually lessened over the years, to the point where Spider-Man is a member of the Avengers, the New Avengers, and the Future Foundation.

Spider-Man's righteousness complimented Daredevil's maturity as a crime-fighter during the Death of Jean DeWolf, leading to an enduring friendship towards other superheroes that notice that. Peter also made close ties with the Fantastic Four at the very start of his career, which today stands greater than ever, like a family rendering aid to each other unconditionally. He is also quite close to the X-Men, able to sympathize with the public scorn that mutants often face. Spider-Man has bonded with the New Avengers which made him a founding member, trusting them so much that he would reveal his identity to each member. Spidey is closest to the Human Torch and Wolverine, playing pranks on one another or seeking solace respectively.

Powers and Abilities

Powers

Current

Main article: Spider Powers
  • Spider Physiology: Peter Parker possesses the proportionate powers of a spider, received to him from an irradiated Common Household Spider (Achaearanea tepidariorum). Peter's DNA was mutated from certain exposure to certain frequencies of radiation, having complex mutagenic enzymes from the radioactive spider's blood, triggering numerous changes that granted him superhuman strength, speed, toughened flesh, and wall-crawling. This resulted into a mutation that granted him an "enhanced chromosome pattern".
    Spider-Man wallcrawling

    Wall-Crawling

    • Wall-Crawling: Spider-Man has the ability to stick to any surface, no matter how rough or slippery. Although this ability is still a bit of a mystery to him, he believes his molecules somehow bond to the surface of whatever he wills. Once he does cling to a surface, nothing can pull him away unless he releases his bond.
      • Mark of Kaine: Kaine is a relatively amoral clone of Spider-Man, who has shown the ability to use his wall-crawling abilities in a more offensive manner, burning distinctive scars onto his enemies faces, known as the Mark of Kaine. Later on, Spider-Man used a variation of the same ability to escape from The Green Goblin by making his fingertips cling to his face and tearing them away, digging five deep wounds into Norman's face. Despite the obvious offensive potential of such an ability, Peter claims that it is unlikely he will use it again, as it was a move that was out of anger and desperation. He has also been able to use the Mark of Kaine to rip Iron Man's armor off. In later events during the Grim Hunt arc, Peter's rage at Sasha Kravinoff over everything she put him and his 'spider family' through, he used his version of the Mark of Kaine on her, ripping the skin off her face in the shape of a hand print. The limits to this ability has not been established.

Being able to detect anything from flying bullets to tainted meat, and even the well being of others, the sense can identify whether a danger is potential or immediate, how intense a threat it is, what direction it is coming from, how fast it is, etc. this extra sense is also a bit of a mystery. It does, however, seem to be a product of some kind of psychic ability.
