Sergei Kravinoff of (Earth-92131) better known as Kraven the Hunter, is a friend and former enemy of Spider-man.
History[]
Early Life[]
Sergei was a descendant of Russian Nobility and a Big game hunter in Africa.
Becoming Kraven the Hunter[]
After hunting was outlawed, he became a guide for Dr. Mariah Crawford to help look for Dr. James Reeve, a colleague that went missing. In the time they spent looking for him they had fallen in love. After months of searching they had finally found a more feral Dr. Reeves who explains that he had invented a drug that can cure anything, but turns you into a feral being. Reeves had tested on himself and warned Mariah never to use it as he gives her the last of the drug. He then leaves but Mariah follows him and gets attacked by hyenas. Sergei came to her aid and fought them off but was mortally wounded. Mariah gave him the last of the drug to save him and caused him to lose his sanity and gain animal instincts. He then dawned the name "Kraven the Hunter."
Battling Spider-man[]
He followed Mariah to New York thinking she was with an other man, while actually she was trying to develop a cure for him. He was interrupted by Spider-man who fought him. Kraven disappeared but followed her scent to Joseph Robertson's house where she and Spider-man were hiding Robbie returned home and Kraven kidnapped him thinking he was the other man. Spiderman defeated Kraven and Mariah gave him the cure, turning him back to his normal self as they then returned to Africa.
Man-Spider[]
Kraven and Mariah returned to New York when Spider-man mutated into the Man-Spider. Kraven had stopped the punisher from trying to destroy him and they then teamed up to help him. Mariah developed a cure for him and turned him back to normal if he took the serum every 24 hours.
Calypso[]
While trying to help people in Africa from an Unknown disease, she contracted it and Kraven gave her the drug that she got from Reeves. She too became a feral creature like Kraven had but even more dangerous. She had become Calypso and fled. Kraven followed her and with the help of Debra Whitman, cured her where they then left.
