Trivia
- Spider-Man: Homecoming is the sixteenth installment in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, while also being the fourth installment of Phase Three.
- The title Spider-Man: Homecoming could be possibly be referencing the 1984 Amazing Spider-Man comic #252 which featured appearances from both Iron Man and Captain America.
- In April 2015, Kevin Feige revealed that Marvel Studios had been working to seal a deal to bring Spider-Man to the MCU since October 2014, when they announced their full slate of Phase Three films, as he said, "Marvel doesn't announce anything officially until it's set in stone. So we went forward with that Plan A in October, with the Plan B being, if the deal were to happen with Sony, how it would all shift. We've been thinking about the Spider-Man film as long as we've been thinking about Phase Three."
- In June 2015, Kevin Feige revealed that the current deal with Sony does not allow the MCU version of Spider-Man to appear in any of the MCU television series, such as Agents of SHIELD or Daredevil with Kevin saying it was "very specific... with a certain amount of back and forth allowed."
- Tom Holland said he nearly cried reading the early reviews for Spider-Man: Homecoming. “I have been on Twitter and it’s been blowing my mind. I woke up this morning and nearly cried. I genuinely nearly had tears falling down my face. You’re on set for 15 hours a day in that suit and it’s hard work. It really is hard. It’s long, its tough – people do a lot harder jobs – but, that said, I put my heart and soul in this movie, and to see that people are enjoying it is so amazing to me.”
- Tom Holland said he found about his casting for Spider-Man like everyone else did. Holland said "I'd worked so hard and it'd been a month since I'd heard anything so I thought, 'Well, I haven't gotten it.' Then one day I'm scrolling through Instagram and Marvel posted this thing about finding out who the next Spider-Man is by going to their website. I thought, what? So I went on the site and it said my name. I freaked out. Everyone in my house was screaming. My poor dog was terrified."
- Marvel Studios also made a choice to not include or reference any characters who had appeared in previous Spider-Man movie outside Peter and May Parker, Flash Thompson and The Daily Bugle. On the DB's exclusion, co-producer Eric Hauserman Carroll said, "We toyed with it for a while, but again, we didn’t want to go down that road right away, and if we do do a Daily Bugle, we want to do it in a way that feels contemporary."
