"There is a saying among the super hero community that has even reached the hallowed halls of Asgard... "With great power comes great responsibility." The question is... what happens when the power is too great? What should be thy responsibility then?"
ā€” Thor

Thor Odinson (of Earth-616), is the Asgardian God of Thunder and a founding member of the Avengers.

History[]

Early life[]

On Thor's eighth birthday, Thor received Mjolnir, an extremely durable Hammer created with Asgardian metal known as Uru.

As he became more powerful, Thor became very arrogant, engaging in heroic battles, declaring himself as the greatest warrior in Asgard, and almost starting a war. Due to his pompous personality, Odin decided to give Thor a lesson in humility. He confiscated Mjolnir and sent Thor to Earth and he was remodeled in the doctor known as Donald Blake.

Thor as Donald Blake lives a normal life until he found a stick while stuck in a cave. After banging this stick against the wall, Donald finds out he can become Thor, God of Thunder as his own will.

Founding Avenger[]

When Loki was causing havoc on Earth, Thor teamed up with Iron Man, Ant-Man and Wasp to defeat Loki and form the Avengers as a founding member.

Trivia[]

  • Thor placed 14th on IGN's Top 100 Comic Book Heroes of All-Time in 2011.
  • The traditional winged helmet that Thor often wears was gifted to him as an adolescent from his father Odin.
  • Thor prefers lattes to coffee, as revealed in Uncanny Avengers #1.
  • Thor was the first Marvel character in a comic book to coin the catchphrase "Avengers Assemble!' in Avengers #10.
